Sheffield United Part Ways with Head Coach Ruben Selles
Sheffield United has parted ways with head coach Ruben Selles following a disappointing start to the season, having lost all six of their opening matches.
The Blades currently find themselves at the bottom of the Championship standings, with Selles' final match resulting in a heavy 5-0 defeat to Ipswich Town on Friday.
Selles, 42, took over the managerial position from Chris Wilder during the summer after the team suffered a loss to Sunderland in the Championship play-off final in May.
Under his leadership, the team began the season with a 4-1 defeat at home against Bristol City and faced an early exit from the Carabao Cup at the hands of Birmingham City.
During his tenure, the team failed to score another league goal, suffering narrow defeats against Swansea City, Millwall, and league leaders Middlesbrough.
The crushing loss at Portman Road proved to be the tipping point, despite Selles asserting after the game that he still had the backing of the club's board, although he had not yet discussed the outcome with them.
He expressed his commitment to continue working until the last minute.
