Wales Reunites with Captain Aaron Ramsey Ahead of Key Matches
Wales has welcomed back captain Aaron Ramsey for the upcoming World Cup qualifier against Belgium and a friendly match against England.
The 34-year-old midfielder was left out of the squad for earlier matches against Kazakhstan and Canada due to limited playing time, having made only one substitute appearance in the past six months as he recovered from injury.
However, Ramsey has since gained match fitness, starting three games and coming off the bench in two others for his Mexican club, Pumas UNAM.
Wales also sees the return of Leeds United duo Ethan Ampadu and Joe Rodon, Coventry City defender Jay Dasilva, and Wrexham forward Nathan Broadhead, all of whom missed the previous fixtures due to injury.
Leeds winger Dan James has been included in the squad despite concerns about a knee injury, with Wales awaiting further assessment from his club.
The Welsh team will face England in a friendly at Wembley on Thursday, October 9, before hosting Belgium in a crucial World Cup qualifier at Cardiff City Stadium the following Monday.
Wales still has a chance to qualify automatically for the 2026 World Cup, but currently sits third in Group J and requires favorable results from other matches.
North Macedonia leads the group with 11 points with three games remaining, just one point ahead of both Wales and Belgium, who are separated by goal difference and have a game in hand.
The team finishing at the top of the group will automatically qualify for the finals, while the runners-up will secure a spot in the 16-team play-offs scheduled for March.
Even if Wales ends up in third place, they are likely to earn a play-off spot after winning their Nations League group last year.
To qualify automatically, Wales must win all three of their remaining matches and hope that Belgium drops points, particularly in their encounter in Cardiff.
