Wolves Part Ways with Head Coach Vitor Pereira Following Winless Start
Wolverhampton Wanderers have parted ways with head coach Vitor Pereira after a disappointing start to the Premier League season, failing to secure a victory in their first ten matches.
The decision follows a 3-0 defeat to Fulham on Saturday, marking Wolves' eighth loss of the current campaign. They currently sit at the bottom of the league table, eight points adrift of safety.
Pereira took the helm in December 2024 and had recently signed a three-year contract in September. However, tensions grew among fans following a 3-2 loss to Burnley last week, which culminated in Pereira being escorted away from heated exchanges with supporters after the match at Molineux Stadium.
While Wolves managed to secure victories against West Ham and Everton in the Carabao Cup, they were eliminated in the Round of 16 by Chelsea on Wednesday.
Upon his arrival, Wolves were positioned 19th in the league, and Pereira successfully guided the team to a 16th-place finish, ensuring their survival. However, the summer transfer window saw the departure of several key players, including Matheus Cunha to Manchester United for £62.5 million, Rayan Ait-Nouri to Manchester City for £31 million, and captain Nelson Semedo, who left for Fenerbahce after his contract expired.
Additionally, speculation surrounding the future of Norwegian striker Jorgen Strand Larsen added further distraction during Wolves' challenging start, as Pereira sought to integrate five new signings into the squad.
