York City Parts Ways with Manager Adam Hinshelwood
York City Football Club has announced the departure of manager Adam Hinshelwood, effective immediately.
The 41-year-old took charge of the Minstermen in February 2024, following his tenure at Worthing.
During his time at York, he successfully secured the club's safety in his first season and led them to a commendable second-place finish last season, narrowly missing out on automatic promotion to League Two by just six points.
Despite an unbeaten start to the current National League season, which includes three draws and one victory from four matches, Hinshelwood has parted ways with the club. His last match in charge was a 1-1 draw against Woking on Monday.
Additionally, first team coach Cam Morrison will also leave the club, while assistant manager Gary Elphick will assume temporary responsibilities until a new manager is appointed.
Co-chairs Matt and Julie-Anne Uggla expressed their gratitude, stating, "We would like to thank Adam for everything he has done for the club since his arrival early last year. We wish him nothing but the very best for the future. We look forward to announcing the new manager in due course for this next chapter for the club."
Hinshelwood, who is the father of Brighton midfielder Jack, previously managed Worthing from 2017 to 2024, where he led the team to promotion to the National League South in the 2022-23 season.
He succeeded Neal Ardley at York, who was dismissed after a string of four winless matches, leaving the club just above the relegation zone.
