Bayern Munich Dominates Wolfsburg with 8-Goal Victory
Bayern Munich surged 11 points ahead at the top of the Bundesliga with an impressive 8-1 victory over Wolfsburg.
England striker Harry Kane increased his league tally to 20 goals in 16 matches this season, showcasing his skill with a stunning right-footed strike into the far top corner to make the score 6-1.
Wolfsburg made Bundesliga history by scoring an own goal for the third consecutive match, with Kilian Fischer inadvertently diverting Luis Diaz's cut-back into his own net in the fifth minute.
The visitors fought back through Dzenan Pejcinovic, who equalized, but Bayern quickly regained control of the match.
Diaz restored Bayern's lead by heading in a cross from Michael Olise for his ninth league goal of the season. Olise then made his mark by scoring twice in the second half during his 50th Bundesliga appearance for Bayern.
He curled in his first goal just five minutes after the break and added another in the 76th minute.
By that point, Bayern had already extended their lead with an own goal from Moritz Jenz, along with strikes from Raphael Guerreiro and Kane.
Leon Goretzka capped off the scoring with an eighth goal from a tight angle in the 88th minute, marking a perfect start for Vincent Kompany’s side as the league resumed following its winter break.
In contrast, second-placed Borussia Dortmund played to a thrilling 3-3 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt on Friday night.
