Newcastle Set to Sign Jacob Ramsey from Aston Villa
Newcastle United is nearing a deal to sign Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey for approximately £40 million.
According to BBC Sport, discussions between the two clubs have progressed significantly regarding the transfer of the 24-year-old.
An agreement in principle has been reached, with only a few details remaining to be finalized.
Following the completion of these details, Ramsey will undergo a medical examination as part of the transfer process to St James' Park.
Aston Villa is set to host Newcastle in their opening Premier League match at 12:30 BST on Saturday.
Ramsey, a former England Under-21 international, has netted 17 goals in 167 appearances for Villa since making his senior debut in 2019, and he was a key player for Unai Emery's squad last season.
This summer, Newcastle has also secured winger Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest and defender Malick Thiaw from AC Milan on permanent contracts.
Additionally, England goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale joined the Magpies from Southampton on a season-long loan earlier this month.
