Marcelino Nunez Set for Transfer from Norwich City to Ipswich Town
Norwich City midfielder Marcelino Nunez is poised to make a surprising transfer to arch-rivals Ipswich Town.
According to BBC Radio Norfolk, a deal valued at £10 million is anticipated to be finalized, as Nunez is entering the final year of his contract with Norwich.
This transfer marks the first instance of a fee-based agreement between the East Anglian clubs since goalkeeper Andy Marshall switched from Norwich to Ipswich in 2001.
In light of Nunez's departure, Norwich is reportedly considering Danish midfielder Pelle Mattsson from Silkeborg as his replacement at Carrow Road.
Nunez joined Norwich from Club Deportivo Universidad Catolica in 2022, making 119 first-team appearances, during which he scored 12 goals and provided 10 assists.
The 25-year-old has already featured three times this season, including a goal for Norwich in their EFL Cup match against Watford.
Currently, Nunez is dealing with an ankle injury sustained during a 2-1 victory over Portsmouth on August 15.
